Thankful Thursday: Cora
“Redeemer and the people here always make sure I am okay... they always make me laugh and smile. They always make sure I’m safe and just in a good position to be good enough to take care of myself and take care of my son... I can go to someone in my neighborhood to talk to them and it feels good to be able to have a community that’s so caring and aware of everything that goes on in the world. Not many communities are like that. But i’m hoping more become aware and awake.”
Cora moved into RCFL housing just last year with her then one-month old baby boy. With stable and safe housing in a supportive community she has been able to focus on the future.
“I’m looking to put Elijah - who is now 13-months - into a childcare and then finding a job for myself and just being more independent… Being in foster care basically more than half of my life, I didn’t have social workers who helped me or supported me, so I want to become a social worker that would help and support kids with a similar background as me. ...Someone who helps someone else. Someone in that area. Or a Para at school. I’d like to help people who are struggling because I know that I can help them understand better and easier, take their time.”
Thank you Cora for investing, engaging, and being present with us.

We’ll see you again, right here, as we embark on a regular journey of diving deeper into the workings of the Redeemer community, who we are, how we engage, and how we together evolve.
As a place based organization, we celebrate and reinforce the diversity of Minneapolis’s Northside through social action and investment in its people, ideas, and enterprises. Community engagement remains at the core of our organizational culture and the primary source for our vision, strategy and evolution.
The support and partnership provided by monetary donations of all sizes, volunteerism, and in-kind contributions enable us to continue to act as an agent of hope and transformation to preserve a vibrant community in the Harrison neighborhood and broader North Minneapolis.
